This morning when I sat down for meditation, I became aware of how unevenly I distributed my weight on each ischium/sit bone/buttock. And as I consciously corrected that imbalance and maintained my attention I was delighted by the orchestra of data I received - Lots of information about my vertebrae, the muscles along my spine, the position of my shoulder, my upper body rotation, the sides of my neck - I was in complete 'wonder'. What a magnificent device the body is. What a surrendered servant it is. What a gift to have the body-mind connection! And it also made me think about Ashtanga - the 8 limbs of yoga and how interconnected all the limbs are. Particularly this morning's experience informed my thinking about the 3rd limb - that is 'Asana' or what many westerners think of as yoga - ie the poses. I was thinking about how the position of the body helps the mind to transcend into union - the aim of Yoga and what that relationship feels like. Have a listen ...

I would say this is one of the main themes in my Ayurvedic Life Coaching Practice! In the West we have grown up thinking it is OK to disagree with reality - to think that something that happened to us was wrong - that it never should have happened. This un-examined thought leads to so much agony, misunderstanding, suffering and wasted energy - it's HUGE! In this video I invite you all to examine anything that you are allowing yourself to believe was 'wrong' and decide if you're ready to change your relationship with Reality. If this causes a reaction in you - either an 'a-ha' moment or a strong disagreement - call me :) Many of you know what a fan of meditation I am! And I sometimes I get the impression that people view meditation as a 'chore'. I think I'm a fan because I get SO MUCH BENEFIT from meditation. Meditation is a very rich experience (and a very non-verbal experience) so it can be hard to put into words what it is - Any description of the experience seems to limit it - which is the opposite of the experience LOL! However, perhaps it is helpful to think of meditation as having (at least) three phases ...
In this mornings video - I share some thoughts about the 'cleansing / transforming / integrating' phase. If you are interested learning more about meditation, call me :) 5 big changes in 5 big years! Last night we took the opportunity to celebrate Tanya's visit by reflecting on 5 BIG CHANGES that had occurred in each of our lives since she was last at a 'Women's Group' It was a fascinating discussion with lots of candour, shared experiences in insights. I often feel after Women's Group that I have more to say than before I started! so today I recorded a video of my 'FIVE' and would like to encourage you to record and share your 'FIVE' in any way that feels right for you. (Apologies in advance that I am in silhoutte - I so love sunrise, that I wanted to include that - next time I'll make sure I have more light on me too!) Enormous thanks to Tanya, Jen, Eileen, Kirten, Dina, Eileen and Mary (and of course Amy who got us started on all this!) * If you are a member of Women's Group, contact me for a link to recorded responses from other members |
